Smoked Sausage with Pepper and Onions

Fake it ’til ya make it. Easy cooking that makes you look awesome!

While I might like everyone to believe I am some sort of amazing culinary genius with an experienced palette and an unwavering ability to combine unique ingredients, such as wild mushrooms and dandelion extract, into a meal that you would pay $100 just to share the same plate with….That’s not quite accurate.

I’m a fairly good “cook.” Or so I’ve been told. But, there’s really no secret to what I do. I’m a rule breaker. I don’t use recipes. I, pretty simply, just throw ingredients I like into the same pan and call it a day. Most of the time that turns out pretty well. Fake it ‘til ya make it, right?

Smoked Sausage and Veggies

This recipe actually might need to be credited to my wife. I can’t remember. Either way, it’s smoked sausage, mushrooms, onions and green peppers. It was relatively amazing.

One thing we have in our house, quite a bit, is some version of a one-skillet meal made with smoked sausage. We love the stuff! Smoked sausage is SUPER QUICK and WAY EASY to cook with and it pairs up pretty well with lots of different ingredients.

Smoked sausage is really an easy solution when you’re looking to make a fast and simple meal without sacrificing flavor.

I kind of assumed that I was the only one in the world who had this little culinary secret figured out, until my farmer friend, Connie, shared this rockstar picture of something she worked up for supper one night. My dreams of hosting my own cooking show, featuring only one-skillet smoked sausage recipes….crushed.

I’m not really sure how anyone could look at this picture and not immediately walk to the kitchen to grab a plate…

What I like the most about cooking with smoked sausage is that there is so much variety. Sometimes, I like to buy the “spicy” kind and add a little kick to dinner.

Spicy Smoked Sausage and Potatoes

Try the “spicy” kind. You’ll love the spicy kind. Add some redskin potatoes, a little butter, some onion and a touch of red pepper flake and you’re in business. Also though this would be good for breakfast with a couple of over-medium eggs, just never got around to it.

It really is quite simple; just let your imagination run free on this one. Fake it ‘til ya make it. You’ll be glad you did.

Remember, there’s always the option to ditch the extra ingredients altogether. That works out well.
