Let’s have a moment of honesty. Close to holidays and special occasions, I find myself sitting in my office daydreaming about a big, juicy ham and enough sides to feed a small community…I work for the Pork Council, so I find this behavior highly appropriate.
I’ve also come to realize that what seems like an appropriately sized ham, when you’re shopping at the store all jacked up on the excitement of eating said piece of meat, often turns out to be overkill for the average family or smaller group.
So, you’ve got some leftovers…what now? Give them to the dog?
No. That’s a little drastic.
Another moment of honesty: I don’t like leftovers, if they seem like leftovers. The key to utilizing your leftovers is pretty simple – turn them into another meal, entirely. With very little effort, you can turn leftover ham into a meal that is far from recognizable as “what’s left from Easter dinner.”
Don’t worry; we’ve got a few suggested options of what to do with your leftovers. The dog might not be too thrilled to hear that, though.
Now that you’re covered with an air-tight plan as to how to handle some of that delicious ham you and your guests will inevitably be unable to completely consume this weekend, feel comfortable “go for the big one” when selecting yours.
Until next time,
