The best kept secret to grilling pork chops is how to use a meat thermometer and knowing what temperature is safe for pork.
Pork will be juicy, flavorful and safe to eat when cooked to an internal temperature of 145 degrees Fahrenheit. Remove the pork from the heat and let it rest for three minutes. I often wrap my pork in foil during this rest period.
This weekend my husband took us tailgating at the Eldora Speedway. He has a portable grill and he purchased pre-marinated pork chops from a local grocery. We grilled pork chops and vegetables and had a very enjoyable tailgate.
The secrets to grilling great chops are:
-Be confident in your cooking.
-Use a meat thermometer.
-Know that pork is safe to eat with a blush of pink in the center.
-Cook pork to 145 degrees F.
-Purchase pre-marinated chops if you are a beginner.
People are often impressed with how juicy my pork chops are. I can honestly admit, they taste much better now than they did when I first started grilling.
Give grilling a try and keep trying until you have perfected a simple meal that your whole family will enjoy!
